Scorpio New moon tips

New Moon in Scorpio

1 November brings a New Moon in Scorpio, and while it’s nice to not have an eclipse, this one has challenges of its own. Scorpio is not comfortable for the Moon, as its drive for comfort and safety aren’t easily met in its deep, pressured waters. Nor is Mars at home in Cancer either, as the warrior struggles to find its fit in Cancer’s soft, nurturing style. So, while they are in each other’s signs, and able to easily see each other, they won’t be bringing out the best in each other. The Moon in Scorpio can brood and withdraw, while Mars in Cancer focuses on the past and emotionally reacts to any perceived slight. Think of two moody teenagers bonding over their anger at the world! Add in that this New Moon is happening under the pressure of Mars opposing Pluto and you’ve got emotionally inflammable energy right as Mercury’s rational logic is lost in the haze of a trine to Neptune.

This New Moon is a little spicy, and you may find yourself in battles you never expected as the two most defended signs of the zodiac are drawn together under this energy. Do all you can to pick your battles under this New Moon, and not leap into the fray with every activated emotion.

My advice is to manifest carefully under this New Moon, here are some suggested ways to use it guided by themes of your Scorpio house.

Purging and detoxification

I’m hearing many stories of stomach or bowel issues with Mars moving through the stomach’s sign of Cancer, and with Scorpio’s powerful purgative properties, it’s the perfect time to cleanse. Whether literal or metaphoric, a purge can be healing now, so schedule that juice fast, plan that restriction diet, do that social media detox or wipe your schedule clean! And do note, it has supercharged intensity, so go gently with yourself as you do this.

Handling power

When there is an imbalance in power within any dynamic, conflict often takes over. If you’re feeling resentful or frustrated, look at where power struggles might be at play. If the lines of communication are open, listening to each other, validating your points of view and then agreeing on compromise is the way forward, but it needs to be done properly, not just sweep it to the side and play nice. That stuff just rots in the shadows until it rears its head again. And if the communication isn’t open, then draw on the strategic side of Scorpio to choose the right battles with the weapons most suited to you.

Cutting to the heart of a painful issue

This New Moon can help you gather the courage and tenacity to face a situation that is causing you pain. If you’ve been avoiding it for fear of conflict or discord, know that leaning into the situation tells the other person “I’m willing to be uncomfortable because I care about you”. And if you just know, deep down, that the situation is irresolvable, then using the sharp Mars edge in a sensitive Cancerian way can bring the end that is needed.

Secrets, deep research and mastering mysteries

Secrets. We all have them. Some are necessary to let life rub along, and others are outright toxic. This is certainly a time to peel back the layers, whether it’s the crumbs under the carpet, truth beneath the lies or the veil between worlds. So where you need to go deep, understand more and seek clarity, intentions set this New Moon can help you probe deeper, faster.

Self-mastery and rebirth

Scorpio reminds us that pleasure requires pain, and challenge brings strength and mastery, it isn’t scared to back away from the hard edges of life. If you need more discipline in your personal development, or the extra dash of resolution to face a hidden side of yourself, then add it to your intentions list.

And remember, as we pause on Samhain and move towards Día de Muertos, draw on the power your ancestors offer. Our Western cult of individualism forgets the power of those beyond the veil, who see us as the bright shining future they strove for – they want you to win!

  1. As a Scorpio sun and Cancer rising with strong Mars and Moon placements, this really resonated with me! I also appreciate the health related aspects as I am an Ayurvedic practitioner and often looking for the deeper reasons for health issues coming up at specific times for people. Thank you.

    1. You’re very welcome Dhanya, and I wish you the best in coming months as Mars slows to retrograde (or restograde as I’m calling it) x
