Venus in Libra and the Libra New Moon

Libra New Moon – 28 Libra, 21 October at 10.25 pm (Brisbane), 1.25 pm (London), 8.25 am (Eastern) and 5.25 am (Pacific)

With the spotlight on Aries by Saturn and Neptune over the last six months, life may have had a singular focus. That one all-consuming topic or a specific area of life needing so much of your attention. Perhaps you’ve been focused on your own needs, or your view has narrowed as you’re unable to lift your head from Saturn’s grindstone.

Now with Venus in her sign of the scales, Libra (14 Oct – 7 Nov), there’s a balancing effect, a sweet antidote to the excitability and thrust of Aries. An ability to see both sides and find harmony. Honestly, we can easily spot the ways we are different, but right now, the work is in finding connection and cohesion. Common ground. Venus beautifies, and in her realms of music, art, fashion, design, even perfumery, beautiful harmony is created through a combination of differing, yet complementary notes. Like a choir, no two voices will be the same, but the differences create a beauty that can’t be achieved from one voice.

Tonight’s New Moon in Libra is a powerful chance to create balance, beauty and harmony. Ruled by Venus in Libra, and gifted by a square to Jupiter, it offers much when the work is put in over the next few days. With Saturn out of Aries, and Neptune oh so close to tipping in too, perhaps reflect on what friction has existed since Neptune (30 March) and Saturn (25 May) moved into Aries. Where did you choose solo over team? Autonomy over dependency? Your way or the highway? Did those choices cause friction – either external or internal? Or have unintended consequences? You can lean into Venus in Libra to heal rifts and plan a more balance approach when Saturn and Neptune move back in Aries early next year.

You may also be thinking “how do I blend well to create harmony, especially if there is friction or conflict?” That’s where the fulcrum of Libra’s scales becomes essential. While the two sides of the scales are always in flux, the fulcrum is the fixed point that provides balance, always constant, never moving. The higher view, able to see both sides and be impartial to both. What does this fulcrum look like practically? In relationship, this is a set of shared values or agreed contract you can always return to when the scales swing too far one way.  Like the choir example, it’s not about having the same voice, but singing from the same hymn book in a collaborative and responsive way creates harmony.

Another general reflection for this New Moon is about creating beauty of thought in the world. Or where things are polarised, contemplating ways you could invite others into the middle. What choices are you making that create separation and opposition? Where can understanding and curiosity make a difference?p
